This can vary significantly, depending on how strict you are about the Detox, following the anti-fungal diet and how aggressive you are with probiotic foods/antifungals. For many people, 50 days or less will be enough to restore sufficient balance to their intestinal flora, but keep in mind that others may need to wait a little longer. As with all the timelines that are set out in this plan, you should trust what your body is telling you.
If you have the option, also discuss how you are feeling with your integrative doctor. If everything suggests that it is ‘safe’ for you to try reintroducing some foods, then proceed appropriately and cautiously, monitoring each reintroduction for any potential aggravation of old (or possibly new) symptoms. Remember -there is no rush!
If you feel that you are still suffering from fungus overgrowth symptoms and are not quite ready to start reintroducing foods, take a little longer on the first few phases and start to add back foods whenever you and your healthcare provider feel that you are ready to do so. Hopefully, by now the anti-fungal diet has given you a new appreciation of how your digestive system functions, how you need to routinely support it, and how things can go awry. By this point, you should be able to recognize reactions to certain food groups as and when they occur and take corrective steps immediately, either through elimination or supplementation.
One important thing to note is that you may never be able to go back to the diet you were eating before. If your previous diet was high in junk food, added sugar, and processed carbohydrates, returning to it will likely lead to another fungal overgrowth and more yeast infections. You should be aiming to find a long-term diet plan that is healthy, sustainable, and contains very few added sugars and processed carbohydrates. This will work wonders for your long term health, too.
The great thing about a good anti-fungal diet is that it helps you to become more inventive with your foods, and gives you a new appreciation for vegetables and salads that you may not have tried before. The thought of integrating these into your long term diet should not be as daunting as it might have been before you started the treatment plan. It can be a wonderful opportunity to experiment with new recipes and foods, and it can make home cooking much more fun!
